Hello out there...

Long time no post, huh? Starting work (only a few hours but its tough to get it all done + a baby who doesn't nap for long = not much free time at the computer.

*James is a happy and active little guy! He is rolling both ways and is just starting to get mobile with his rolling. I started him on oatmeal a couple days ago and he loves it! I think he's going to love solids. He recently starting liking stroller rides (finally - whew!) and can tolerate car rides a little more. He loves laughing with dad, stories and songs, and playing with his feet.

*Amazingly (and surprisingly) after struggling with low supply and slow weight gain, I am exclusively breast feeding again! I'm not sure how things changed but James gained a ton of weight with the formula supplements (thank you formula!) but then he stopped needing and wanting it, and he gained a great amount of weight on my milk alone this past month.

*Sleep is a challenge. It's usually not terrible (1-2 wakings but sometimes more) but its quite an ordeal to get him to sleep still. I know it's controversial but we will probably need to do some kind of sleep training after we get back from thanksgiving - for his well being to get the sleep he needs, for our sanity, and so that we could leave him with a family member or babysitter occasionally (nobody else could get him to sleep)...

*A few pictures of my boy! Love him so much!

Oh my gosh Hillary, he is SOO adorable!! He definitely looks like one chubby, happy little baby :) So glad to hear that things are going well. Don't feel bad about the sleep training, from everything I've read it's really good for the baby and parents in the long run!

Look how big he's gotten!!! He has the sweetest little smile! As far as sleep training goes, check out the book, "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child." It has some really good advice. I kind of "mixed and matched" different things to figure out what worked best for my baby.

It sounds like you have the same kind of sleeper that I have! (and mine is almost 2!) we have tried CIO a couple of different times and it "kinda" works for awhile until he gets shots, or gets sick, or there is a special change up in everyone's schedule... Then it goes back to waking up again. After 15 months of no sleep, we finally caved in and now we all sleep together in our big king bed. I SWORE that I would never ever co-sleep... But, I've just added it to my list of "things I swore I'd never do in parenting that I now do" : )

I hope that your sleep training goes well.. But if it doesn't... Don't lose any more sleep with worry about it. Do what works. Do what gets you the most SLEEP for crying out loud. It will make you a much happier and productive Momma. Which is more important than a perfectly sleep trained child! Trust me!!

He is adorable!!

God bless!

He is ADORABLE!!! The sleep thing is hard. My boys are now 17 months and since about 4 months I can maybe count on one hand the number of nights they have actually slept all the way through. It's always something. Teething, colds, etc... They are still sooooo worth it though!!!!!

Aw, he is so sweet!! No worries about posting, enjoy your baby boy :)

sleep-eh, Caroline is a year and a half and is still not a good sleep. Elizabeth was a million times easier. I hope you guys can work it out when you're ready. I know the feeling of no one else being able to get your baby to sleep and the anxiety that goes along with that. I hope you guys have a great thanksgiving! :)

Oh he's adorable! I'm glad things are going well! You might find that sleep training isn't as bad as you think. And you don't necessarily have to CIO. I thought my daughter was going to be awful going from rock n play to crib, but we just started a routine every single night and she followed it into the crib. When she wakes up at night we always wait a few minutes. If she's whining or talking, we don't go get her. Normally she puts herself back to sleep. If she's actually crying, we wait a minute to see if she's just sleep crying or something is wrong. If it's a sustained cry, we go get her. That happens maybe 1-2 times a week. You might give it a try. Sometimes they'll surprise you. I always expected her to scream in the crib, but now she cries if I don't put her in there and let her go to sleep fast enough!

I highly recommend Baby Wise for sleep training. We used it as a loose "guide" and we never let her cry it out. We just got on a schedule and she got in a rythm and started sleeping. I found it to be much easier than I thought it would be. Good Luck!

He is sooooo cute. I love the frequent doses I get on instagram. such a cutie...and don't worry....sleep training does not have to be a bad word or a terrible experience. Just do your research...find a method you agree with ethically and try it...if it doesn't work....try another. Sadly...it is not a one stop shop and does take some time and patience. I did a very loose version of babywise for my son and it worked like a charm...but totally bombed on our daughter. She required a much softer, slow approach. So....just go with your gut on this one. I'm sure you will find what works for you and James. Keep posting lots of pictures though....he is sooooo cute!

I miss you blogging! Even though we don't know each other in real life, I so relate to your struggles and the joys that a surprise pregnancy brought, and now in raising these little miracle children! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas with your husband and sweet boy and that this new year blesses you immensely!
