Growth spurt?

So I'm guessing (hoping?) James has begun his 3 week growth spurt today. Since 6:30 this morning he has been feeding every 1.5 hours with one significant nap that gave us a 3 hour break. That sounds like a growth spurt, right, even if it's a few days before he's 3 weeks?? It's just hard because I feel like I can't say for sure until after the fact when he's back to "normal," because what if this is his new normal?

On the upside, I am hoping that this is helping him pack on some weight before his weigh in on Friday!

And, a cute picture just for fun :)

Sounds like he's growing to me - which is probably painful for you! That binge nursing always left me sore. You'll be able to tell pretty quickly if he's growing or trying to use you as a pacifier. As long as he's feeding well (and not just nursing a couple minutes and passing out) he likely growing, which is great! And the pcitures are great too!

I agree...sounds like a growth spurt to me. James is one of the cutest baby boys I have ever seen!

Gosh is he a cutie pie! I am sure he is growing well. Breastfeeding on demand can be hard but it's so rewarding when he is weighed and you know YOU did it all for him!

Michael hit all of his growth spurts early. And he wasn't a light eater to begin with, so I was pretty much glued to a chair my whole maternity leave. Breastfeeding is a lot of work, but it's very rewarding to see your baby grow from your nourishment and the cuddle time is great too. Enjoy this time with your cute little man!

Evangeline was always early for hers, too. From what I've read, and noticed in my daughter, they tend to eat a ton and sleep a ton because they grow when they're sleeping. It's funny that one day they're wearing one size and a day or two later they don't fit in it and actually look bigger! Anyway, he is adorable, and it's great that you are understanding that babies change and sometimes it means it's their new "normal"!! But this does sound like a growth spurt. They hit a ton of them early on.

Definitely a growth spurt! They last a few days so just go into survival mode :) And, it may not seem like you have enough milk at first but that will change quickly... just eat and drink as much as you can, and try to sleep too (I know all of those are next to impossible with a newborn). Everyone says this but it's so true... that phase feels like it goes so slowly, but BLINK and you'll be where I am: planning a first birthday party (sniffle!). Just give yourself as much grace as you need. Those early months are TOUGH! xoxo

My babies always had a growth spurt between two and three weeks with a lot of cluster feedings....so this sounds very familiar. And oh my goodness he is so adorable. Keep posting pictures....I love them!
