Happy fall!

Perhaps because I live in Southern C.alifornia and we don't have "real" seasons, I compensate by loving them. I like to try and cook seasonally, decorate my house a little, and save certain favorite flavors for the coordinating season. And of all the seasons, fall is my favorite - I love the coziness, the smells, the tastes, the colors, the foods, and the fact that it also means Thanksgiving and Christmas are approaching.

Today was my day off from work, so in between chores I have done some fall celebrating. :)

First, I bought a pumpkin spice latte...
Via Starbucks

Then, I put out some of my fall decorations...

Via Pottery Barn (I don't have the straw or acorns, but I did fill a vase with leaves and a candle...)

I made some pumpkin bread....

via Simply Recipes

And I am making one of our favorite butternut squash recipes for dinner...

Via myrecipes.com/ Cooking Light

I am so thankful God gives us season to mark passages of time, and for the small joys and traditions within them! It really makes me happy, and there is something so nostalgic and sweet about fall in particular that brings so many memories to mind. I am thankful and blessed.

I love the changing of seasons, too! :) I used to live in San Diego, so I completely understand the lack of seasons, but it's nice to see you celebrating and enjoying the special little treats God has in store for us within each season.

I lived all over SoCal in the LA basin. Lack of real seasons drove me nuts, but then I lived up in Big Bear, and it felt like real seasons. Loved it. Head up to oak glenn and pick apples (or glenn oak, can never remember which) or the mountains@ gives you a chance to get that crisp autumn air :)

Yes, I love fall! But we are also not really experiencing it now with 90+ degree weather. You are making me want to make pumpkin bread with the pumpkin from our CSA.

I heart seasons...and fall is magical. It's the anticipation of Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the New Year!

I'm a lover of the seasons as well. But I have no seasons here in sicily. Your pumpkin spice latte is making me drool! I can't wait to get one while I am home in November. Happy Fall!

As you come into Fall or Autumn as we call it, we're heading into Spring and then Summer in time for Christmas and a barbie on the beach.

If the calendar hadn't told me I wouldn't know it. It's still 95 here in TN now I don't want global warming but I prefer warm weather. I do love Halloween though DH and I host a block party at our house, we love it.

oh, you are getting me so excited for the fall. all of that food looks so yummy.

good luck with your upcoming ivf cycle. good for you for sticking to your motto of not planning your life around your cycles and due dates. that is hard to do.

thanks for stopping by my blog

You are a great little cooker. All that food is making me hungry. My favorite time of year is Fall also. I am a fall baby and my wedding was in the fall. I love everything about it. Thanks for sharing. Also I would like the recipe for your butternut squash :-)

Thank you for reminding us of some of the beauties of Fall...it definitely is my favorite season. While I was at work today, I had the outside door of my classroom open and this nice cool fall breeze was blowing through. It felt so nice! I might have to make some of those recipes! :)

I love fall too! I was also a nerdy kid who loved the going-back-to-school aspect of it.

But really... you should put YOUR pics (of your decorations, bread, and dinner), not other people's :-p

Fall is my favorite as well. I spent this morning putting up fall decorations and making pumpkin cranberry muffins. I haven't tried to the pumpkin spice latte yet. Everyone drools over it every year. I guess I'll have to break down and make a trip to Starbucks.

Okay, it's decided!
I WILL be trying a pumpkin spiced latte within the next few weeks, and I'll be needing that squash recipe!

Would you please send it to me?

Thanks for stopping by and best of luck to you and your July 2011 (with the grace of God) baby!
