3dp 3dt: Let the crazies begin

For those of you unfamiliar with the IVF lingo, the title of this post means that I am 3 days past a 3 day transfer. If this were a "regular" trying to conceive cycle, that would translate to 6 days past ovulation.

Which, in my mind, also equals the last day before the two week wait crazies begin.

For the record, the PIO has already given me br.east tenderness and a degree of sleepiness. I have been sleeping really well at night! These side effects started the day after the egg retrieval, so they are definitely not pregnancy symptoms.

According to what I have read, implantation should be occurring between today (Thursday) and Monday. With this potential implantation also comes the potential of early pregnancy symptoms, imagined pregnancy symptoms, PIO side effects, or no symptoms at all. Any of these options could easily make me batty with hope or despair.

Welcome, second half of the two week wait! At least you bring me closer to knowing whether or not this has resulted in a pregnancy, even if you do like to torture me in the meantime.

A few of you asked whether or not I have experienced the soreness from the PIO shot, and the answer is YES! Despite the ice beforehand and the heating pad after, it seems my lower back/ upper bottom region just feels constantly bruised. And it gets worse each day. Any other tips out there to ease this would be appreciated, although it really only is a mild discomfort {so far?}.

That was the worst part! The symptoms of that darn PIO shot makes the mind do crazy things for sure. :) Hang in there with that. If you will warm the oil before the shot it will help. I ran my syringe under warm water or held it in my hand to keep it warm. It goes in easier with less lumpiness in the bum afterward. I am just now getting the feeling in my behind back to normal, it will eventually go a bit numb. Blessings to you!

Will you be testing before your beta???

my nurses actually told me icing before makes the pain and bruising worse. i did moist heat for 10 minutes after while walking and massaging the area (to spread everything around)

The 2ww is the WORST, and I completely remember having the crazies during it. (just ask my hubby if you don't believe me. Hee hee)

The only suggestion I have about the PIO shots is to keep switching areas. Unfortunately, that is all you can really do. The area does get sore, and sometimes the shot isn't done as gracefully as other times. Hopefully the pain will be manageable for you.

I'm so sorry about the PIO pain! It will all be worth it though :) I have been praying for you during this 2ww!!

I ice the area before my shot but we also hold the vial under warm water before my husband draws the PIO into the syringe. This really does help to losen up the oil. My husband also massages the area for about 5-7 minutes afterwards to help disburse the oil in my muscle tissue. This helps the oil to not ball up in one spot and make you sore. Hope this helps!

FWIW, I had zero symptoms, so stay positive no matter how you feel!!

I was told not to ice before the shot. I always heated the area and the syringe/oil before the shot, and heated and massaged the area after the shot. HTH :)

I wish I had some advice for you re: the crazies, but I don't...I was cuckoo during the 1ww/IVF cycles. I'm no help with PIO either...it just hurts! I'm hoping for only good news in a few days...fingers and toes crossed for you!!!

I put the bottle of progesterone in my bra and warmed it up before drawing it into the needle. After the shot I had my husband rub the "area" to try and disperse the shot and then sat on heating pad. One day I had the brilliant idea of sitting on a heating pad prior to the shot and when he gave me the shot I squirted blood everywhere - heat brings blood to surface - that was scary. By the time you are done with shots - cause you will be prego and have to conti for weeks longer you will need a soft pillow to take with you everywhere! It's so worth it tho!

Hey it's Elle, Sorry I've been MIA for so long - shut down the old Fallopian 'Tudes blog and I'm starting a new one now... WOW I'm so excited for you! I have you in my thoughts!

Ahhh...the PIO soreness...yes...it is there...but there is not much you can do...cuz you keep getting a shot everyday....just gotta go with it is what I have found. It is actually worse in the beginning for me and then it is like my bumm just gives up and it all goes away. Even after 12 weeks of shots.

Stay strong, stay hopeful, stay faithful. I'm praying for you.

I remember PIO...and I remember the soreness. My advice massage the area and it helps a bit. My nurse suggested this, immediately after she gave the injection. The med is thick and goes into the muscle, so that explains the soreness....all worth it though :)

Wishing you all the best and much SUCCESS.
